What Is Our Purpose? To lead authentic worship and produce authentic worshipers.
This is the question we must ask: Is this ministry God’s idea or man’s idea? If it is man’s idea, then our purpose and commitment level matters very little. If this is God’s idea, then we have an incredible responsibility…a Scriptural mandate, if you will, to be a worship-leading ministry. Throughout Biblical history, we are commanded to sing, make music for, and worship the Lord. There are numerous Old Testament accounts of men and women of faith like Jubal, Moses, David, Miriam, the Psalmists, and others who sang, danced, and played instruments before their God. It was the Levites who were chosen by God to “carry the Ark of God and to minister before Him forever.” (1 Chronicles 15:2) In the New Testament record, we are continually exhorted and commanded to privately and corporately worship God. We are commanded to “teach and admonish one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord” (Col. 3:16). It is what we will do for eternity in heaven (Revelation 4:9-11). Music and the arts are a gift from God. It is the gift He has given us to be able to offer expressions of praise and worship to the One Who has drawn us into an eternal, divine relationship.
